SOLD
Upper Paleolithic c.50,000 to 30,000 B.C. An attractive Upper Paleolithic Egyptian flint knife / scraper originally found in the Western Desert, Thebes (Luxor), Egypt c.early-mid 20th Century and from a very old collection. Old ink inscription on one side stating "Egypt Predynasty Paleolithic Thebes 22", more recently from a long established Canadian lithic collection. A good sized and well worked flint knife / scraper made from a large flake. Clearly worked with good retouching to blade edge on right hand side; unusually this tool appears to be made to fit the left hand as difficult to hold and use in the right. Totally intact and in very good condition with a rich and very attractive mottled brown patina desert patination, so typical of Egyptian Upper Palaeolithic desert finds. An excellent example, 87mm long x 67mm wide x 18mm thick.
