An authenticated relic from the Tower of London. Removed from the Lanthorn Tower during construction work in 1984 to make a new pedestrian access. The Lanthorn tower was built between 1238 and 1272. It was commissioned by King Henry III and is one of the many towers that were built at that time, towers serving as defence to the White tower that was given a rampart. The stone was removed from site with written permission from the Yeoman Clerk of the Tower of London. Some 4 tons of stone was removed following completion of works and was then broken down into collectable specimen sized pieces. From a Northern Irish collection. Own a genuine piece of London history. Stone fragment c.40mm x 28mm and presented in a small cellophane fronted display with full descriptive text on the reverse.
