Cromerian Interglacial period (MIS 13) c.524,000 to 474,000 years old. An early Lower Paleolithic Flint Pebble chopper found many years back at the famous Paleolithic site of Warren Hill, near Mildenhall, Suffolk, a site rich in Early Paleolithic habitation sites which has yielded more artefacts than any other Paleolithic site in Britain. From an old Norfolk collection. Fashioned from a pebble of dark black/blue flint with elongate whitish flecks throughout and quite synonymous with this famous Prehistoric site. A large wedge shaped chopping edge has been fashioned using several large strikes and the pebble cortex remains on the thick butt end to aide grip in the hand during use. Old impact scar on edge of blade from use (not detracting) otherwise totally intact and in very good condition for its great age with a pleasant old surface colouration and patination, an interesting and very early Early Paleolithic hand tool from a notable prehistoric site. 97mm long x 65mm wide x 50mm thick
