SOLD

c.350,000-300,000 years B.C. An Early Paleolithic "Clactonian" pebble hand axe / blade tool found on the ancient foreshore of the River Orwell, Nacton near Ipswich, Suffolk and from an Suffolk collection. A fairly crude but early pebble tool, with a large oblique flake struck from it and then lightly retouched along its edge to make a simple hand axe / blade tool. Totally intact and in very nice condition with good surface ageing and light water smoothing, a pleasant and very affordable example of an early pebble hand axe, 90mm wide x 55mm high x 33mm thick.
