c.2500-2000 B.C. An enormous, heavy and magnificent "Museum quality" Neolithic knapped and polished flint axe found many years ago in Coltishall, Norfolk and more recently from an old established Cornish collection. A beautiful and choice quality fint axe fashioned from a very attractive grey, beige and tan coloured flint, expertly worked all over and very even and symmetrical throughout. with a perfect and completely unblemished polished blade edge, this axe was probably never intended for use but instead was most likely made as a tribal status piece, possibly once belonging to a chieftain or elder. Perfect condition all over with a wonderful shiny old surface patination and lovely smoothing and ageing to all surfaces. Not cheap but a truly superb and huge axe, and of a quality seldom offered for sale, a great investment piece as well. [ N.B. Additional postage applies on this item due to its size, weight and value]. Weighing in at a hefty 1.165kg and measuring 205mm long x 83mm wide x 53mm thick.
