c.60,000 to 30,000 B.C. An excellent and attractive Upper Paleolithic small flint hand axe found many years back in Leicestershire and from a Nottinghamshire collection. This nice little hand axe is expertly fashioned from a most attractive deep toffee coloured flint with clear bi-facial working and good functional tip and blade edges. Totally intact and in lovely condition with good surface ageing and patination, a tactile, pleasant and attractive example of the type, 90mm long x 46mm wide x 23mm thick.
