c.3500-3000 B.C. An excellent and nicely aged Neolithic flaked flint axe excavated in Breteuil Oise, Northern France and from an old Victorian lithic collection. Old ink inscription on butt end stating find site. Expertly fashioned from an attractive banded light and dark grey flint, well worked over all of its surface with a clear and well defined chopping edge, body tapering towards the butt end which was most likely once hafted into an wooden / antler handle for use. Very nicely aged and patinated with iron oxide highlights to the percussion ridges further adding further to its visual appeal, a very nice axe, 110mm long x 46mm wide x 30mm thick
