Early to Mid Bronze age c.1800-1500 B.C. An excellent and scarce, Early to Mid Bronze age, bronze flat axe with a"Peltaform" blade, found many years back in Asenby, near Harrogate, North Yorkshire and from a Cornish private collection. PAS Recorded: Ref. YORYM-0D0388 https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/405159  (PAS details also supplied with axe). An elegant and appealing Early Bronze Age axe with a thin rounded butt, a largely flat and smooth main body with raised edge ridges leading into a widely flared "Peltaform" blade. A few spots of fine surface pitting (not detracting) otherwise totally intact and in excellent overall condition, of good metal with decent surfaces and a most attractive overall shiny deep bronze toning and patination. A very nice example of the type and of a scarce form, 102mm long x 58mm x 13mm thick.
