Mid-Late Bronze age c.1400-1000 B.C. A very nice and rare Mid to Late Bronze age, bronze socketed axe head with a crescentric blade, an elongate slender body, a rectangular socket embellished with a thick plain collar, fastening loop on top edge for securing the axe head to a shaped wooden shaft for use. Found in Weston-upon-Trent, South Derbyshire many years ago and from a Cornish private collection. PAS Recorded: Ref. CORN-5FDC66 https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/788413 (PAS details also supplied with axe). An elegant and appealing Bronze Age axe head, totally intact and in excellent condition, of good metal with decent surfaces and a pleasant deep bronze toning. A very nice example of the type and of a scarce form, 95mm long x 48mm across blade,socket 33mm x23mm.
