Hoxnian Interglacial period (MIS 11-10) c.424,000 to 374,000 years old. An excellent and scarce Lower Palaeolithic "Small Ficron" flint hand axe found many years back at the famous Prehistoric site of Hoxne, Suffolk (a site that gave the name to the Hoxnian Interglacial period) and from an old Norfolk collection. Expertly fashioned from a large flake of banded cream and dark grey coloured flint, bifacially worked to form the characteristic wide grip end tapering to an elongated trihedral functional digging point. Intact and in very good condition for its great age with a good old collection patina, an appealing example of this scarce Palaeoloithic hand tool from a very notable prehistoric site. 100mm long x 62mm wide x 38mm thick
