c.1st Century A.D. An excellent and unusually large Roman Military lead ovoid sling shot originally unearthed in Central Europe many years back and more recently from an Irish collection. Lead sling shots were very formidable and accurate projectiles in the hands of the Roman slingers; ranks of slingers (often mercenaries) formed a core part of many of the major Roman battles in Europe. In excellent intact condition for Ancient lead with no visible impact damage, just a few minor surface knocks from its time buried in the Earth, good surfaces with a pleasant and stable whitish surface patination.
