c.50,000 B.C. An excellent and well worked Paleolithic Mousterian (Neanderthal) flint hand axe originally found at the famous site of Les Eyzies in the Dordogne, France. Expertly fashioned from a pleasant mottled and banded light & dark grey flint, beautifully and bi-facially worked to form a very appealing piriform shape with clearly defined and still sharp functional blade edges and point. Totally intact and in super condition with a most attractive light surface smoothing and ageing, a very tactile piece, a lovely example of a Neanderthal hand axe, 86mm long x 70mm wide x20mm thick.
