c.13th/14th Century A.D. An excellent Early Medieval bronze "Bee Hive" thimble found in Yorkshire many years back and from an old Scottish collection. Of the earlier shallow form this thimble is a very nice example of the type and of thick and robust bronze with good clear dimpling, excellent surfaces and a most attractive shiny dark green patina, a very nice example of this early thimble, 18mm diameter x 13mm high
