c.3000 B.C. An excellent, good sized and well worked Neolithic flint "leaf shaped" spear head found many years ago in Norfolk and from a U.S. private collection. Nicely fashioned from a pleasant whitish coloured flint, leaf shaped, of thin section and bi-facially worked to form a good functional tip and sharp blade edges. The butt end of spearhead has been deliberately thinned to allow it to be hafted into the split end of a wooden shaft and it would have then been secured with tree resin and sinew to hold it fast. A very nice and well defined example with good clear working, nice surfaces and a pleasant shiny smoothing and patination, 73mm long x 44mm wide x 9mm at thickest.
