Site dated to MIS 13, c.524,000 to 478,000 years BP. An excellent and beautifully patinated Lower Paleolithic backed flint knife or chopper tool excavated many years ago at the famous and well documented Paleolithic site of High Lodge near Mildenhall, Suffolk and from an old Norfolk collection. Well fashioned from a large and most attractive honey, toffee and black coloured flint flake with the pebble cortex still in evidence on the thicker backed (grip) end. Clearly worked blade edge with some minor reworking. Totally intact and a most appealing and tactile piece with lovely colouration, good surface ageing and a most attractive shiny old surface patina, a very good example of an early Paleolithic flint hand tool from a notable site , 88mm long x 68mm wide x 30mm thick
