c.60,000 - 50,000 B.C. An excellent Mousterian (Neanderthal) "Levallois" flint knife / saw found at the historic Prehistoric site of Pakefield, Suffolk and from an old Norfolk collection. Expertly fashioned from a large toffee coloured flint flake struck from a pre-prepared flint core and then finely and bi-facially worked along its edges to form almost serrated functional blade edges with a distinct zig-zag profile when viewed edge on. A lovely Neanderthal hand tool from a very notable prehistoric site with lovely surfaces and an attractive shiny patina, a very tactile example that fits the right hand perfectly for use, 77mm long x 46mm wide x 10mm thick
