c.3000-2500 B.C. An excellent Neolithic flint Graver / Awl / Borer found near the famous Grimes Graves Neolithic flint mining site in Norfolk. Expertly fashioned from an attractive pale and dark grey flint and formed from an elongate narrow flint flake of triangulated section with a sharp and distinctly worked funtional tip. The tool would have likely been used for engraving of other fabrics, bone, ivory etc and from boring of holes in animal skins for the lacing up and manufacture of clothing. (Collected pre 1982 and from the famous Dr. H.A. Fawcett collection). Totally intact and in super condition, very tactile, an excellent example of the type, 107mm long x 18mm wide x 14mm thick.
