Product Description
c.3000 - 2500 B.C. An excellent Neolithic polished stone axe head unearthed many years ago in Stonegrave, North Yorkshire and from a Hampshire Geologists collection. Expertly fashioned from a hard, fine grained, mid-grey hard stone and polished over its entirety with just a few natural shallow pits in the stones surface missing the polishing. The axe head is fairly slender and has a nicely defined blade edge. Totally intact and in lovely condition with a shiny surface patina. Old inked inscription on one side citing "Stonegrave, North Riding, Yorks". A very nice and tactile piece, 110mm long x 55mm wide x 19mm thick
