c.5,000 - 3,000 B.C. An excellent Neolithic unifacial spearhead found c.1910 and from an old French collection amassed c.1908-1910. Worked from a pleasant mottled blue / grey coloured flint flake with a flat underside and copious working on upper surface to form a pleasant leaf shaped body with distinct point and functional blade edges around. The rear of the spearhead has then been further worked to deliberately reduce its thickness to facilitate it being hafted into a wooden shaft and secured with resin and animal sinue. Original old collection number "30" on underside in ink. A well worked and functional Neolithic spearhead featuring an attractive blueish / white overall surface patination, 78mm long x 43mm wide x 15mm at thickest.
