c.100,000 to 50,000 B.C. An excellent Paleolithic flint "backed blade" tool found many years ago in Norfolk and from an old Norfolk collection. Very nicely fashioned from an outer pebble flake of attractive toffee coloured flint small pebble of attractive honey coloured flint with an area of cortex remaining on upper surface to enhance grip of the tool and the left edge then well worked to define the functional cutting blade. The tool fits nicely in the right hand with the thumb resting nicely in a natural depression. This tool would likely have been used for cutting and scraping animal hides to make clothing or shelter, totally intact and in very good condition, a pleasant example of the type, 87mm long x 43mm wide x 15mm thick
