An excellent Paleolithic Mousterian (Neanderthal) " flint hand saw found in the early part of the 20th Century at the famous Neanderthal site of Peyzac Le Moustier, in the Dordogne, France and from an old French lithic collection. Formed from a large curved cream and honey coloured flint flake with further retouching along the inner blade edge to denticulate and sharpen it for use as a hand saw, nicely worked and totally intact, in very good condition with a most attractive old Paleolithic patina further enhanced by iron oxide highlights on the percussion ridges, an excellent and appealing Neanderthal hand tool from a famous Paleolithic site, 88mm long x 40mm at widest x 18mm at thickest point
