c.50,000 B.C. An excellent Paleolithic Mousterian (Neanderthal) flint knife found at the famous site of Les Eyzies in the Dordogne, France. Nicely fashioned from a pleasant light and dark grey flint, uni-facially worked to form a very appealing piriform shape with clearly defined reworking to produce still sharp functional blade edges. Small area of cortex left in situ to form a decent thumb grip. Totally intact and in super condition with a most attractive light surface smoothing and ageing, a good example of a Neanderthal flint knife, 70mm long x 44mm wide x 15mm thick.
