c.8th-7th Century B.C. An excellent and complete Ancient Persian bronze "Arm & Hand" fibula brooch. A very nice example of this scarce type of brooch; skillfully fashioned from a single piece of bronze with the bow resembling a bent arm and the catchplate in the form of a hand which grasps the tip of the pin. Integral two loop spring and gently curving pin. Totally complete and undamaged, in excellent condition, of good metal with nice surfaces and pleasant shiny dark orange/green surface patination. Ex A.Morris collection, a very nice example of its type, supplied in display box, brooch 47mm long x 22mm depth from pin to bow.
