Neolithic c.4000-3000 B.C. An excellent quality, finely pressure flaked Neolithic flint "Chisel Tip" arrowhead found in North Yorkshire in the 1950's/1960's and from an old established Nottinghamshire collection. Fashioned from an attractive mottled light and dark grey flint, expertly worked and pressure flaked around its entire perimeter on either side, forming the characteristic "V" shaped body with a nicely defined and sharp, slightly curved chisel tip. Chisel Tip arrowheads were effectively reverse mounted with the pointed end fixed into the arrow shaft and the sharp chisel tipped edge designed for causing maximum wounding and blood loss in order to bring down larger prey much more efficiently. This is a super example of the type, totally intact and in lovely condition with attractive colouration and good surface ageing, 33mm long x 24mm across blade edge.
