c.A.D.1300-1400. An excellent quality thick leather sole from a Medieval Childs shoe, found many years ago in the River Thames in London and from a Suffolk collection. Very nicely shaped and very typically Medieval in form. Of thick sturdy leather with copius stitch holes around perimiter. Still shows feint impressions of the childs toes in parts from wear. Totally stable and robust. Original sole would have been slightly larger but leather shrinks slightly as it dries out but it is most definately too small for an adult shoe. A very unusual and appealing Medieval artefact, seldom offered, 152mm long x 52mm wide
