c.2500-1800 B.C. An extremely rare Late Neolithic-Early Bronze Age, carved Antler Pressure flaker tool found in the early 20th Century in the Ancient Swiss Lake Village settlements of Lake Neuchatel in Switzerland (now a UNESCO World heritage site) and more recently Ex. The Simon Camm Collection, Cornwall [Simon, a retired Geologist and Author amassed the most fantastic collection of only the finest quality and rarest examples of Stone Age and Bronze Age artefact's, a collection to rival many Museums in fact]. The tool has been expertly carved from a deer antler with the antler tip then being adapted to have a small flattened section so as to apply maximum pressure to the edge of a flint tool thus allowing very precise and controlled miniature flake removals; Antler pressure flakers were largely used to fabricate the intricate and finely worked barbed and tanged arrowheads so sought after by serious Lithic collectors; although the Antler pressure flaker tool is in itself far, far rarer and more sought after than the superb flint tools it probably once created. The flaker tool is totally intact, in excellent condition throughout with superb sound surfaces and possesses the most wonderful Ancient shiny patina and colouration, with natural wear evident on the flattened tip from its long-term use plus a nicely smoothed and shiny area on the upper surface towards the tip where the users thumb pressure has gradually worn away the rough exterior of the antler through many years of use. Pressure flakers rarely ever appear for sale and this is a truly superb example of this most rare of Prehistoric hand tools and a once in a lifetime chance to add one to you own Lithic collection, approx. 115mm long x 21mm diameter at the grip end, tapering down to 7mm at the function tip
