An impressive Viking period iron knife with gently curved blade and original suspension loop. SOLD
Our Price: £0.00

c.9th/10th Century A.D. An impressive Viking period iron knife featuring a gently curving blade with upswept tip, originally excavated in Germany some years back but from a London collection.  This knife would have once had a short bone or wooden handle and one of the iron rivets that would have held the handle on is still evident. there is also an iron suspension loop in its hilt possibly for hanging it up with after use or for attaching to a chain so that it didn't get lost. A few old minor knocks but otherwise intact and in good overall condition for ancient iron, a pleasant example of the type, 148mm long x 30mm widest across blade.
