c.1st/2nd  Century A.D. An unusual and elaborate Roman terracotta oil lamp found in the mid-20th Century in Tunisia, North Africa and from an old West Country collection. A pleasant lamp featuring an impressed line design around filler hole culminating at the spout, with decorative a pair of "Bow" like protuberances on either side of the lamp on the upper surface. Originally red glazed, a fair bit of which remains but surfaces have some rubbing and minor wear from its time buried in the earth, otherwise the lamp is intact and in good overall condition. A pleasant and appealing Roman oil lamp, 77mm long x 67mm wide x 24mm deep
