Upper Paleolithic period c.50,000 B.C. A Neanderthal "Mousterian" denticulated flint flake saw found many years back in Central France and from a Hampshire Geologists collection. Fashioned from a thick ovate flint flake, bi-facially worked and expertly knapped around its perimeter to form denticulations (serrations) so that the tool could be used for sawing.
