"Thutmoside Period" (i.e Pre-Ramesside) Mid-18th Dynasty c.1400 B.C. A large, rare and exceptional Ancient Egyptian 18th Dynsaty "Thutmoside Period" Heiroglyphic Ushabti figure, collected in the 1960's; originally hailing from an old Portsmouth collection and from the estate of the original collector. The Ushabti is a particularly fine example, well modelled with good clear facial and headdress details and with sharp well defined hieroglyphs around its entirety. In 2016, the figure was fully checked, verified, dated and read by Marcel Maree, Assistant Keeper for the Department of Egypt & Sudan at the British Museum in London and all email communications relating to this are included with the figure. The Ushabti belonged to a man called "Ly", a literate official of obvious high status and most likely hails from Thebes. The Hieroglyphs are a slightly truncated version of the traditional Ushabti spell and read as follows "The illuminated one, the Osiris Ly, true of voice, he says; O shabti, here, if one counts, if one reckons, the Osiris Ly, true of voice, to do all the work that is done in the God's land, to cultivate <the fields etc, you shall say "Here I am". Supplied with a good quality, custom made solid acrylic and brass display stand to which the Ushabti merely slots into and is then safely supported. Apart from an old tiny knock to edge of feet (not detracting) the figure is in excellent condition for its great age with no repairs and good glaze and colour, a superb example of a high status individuals hieroglyphic Ushabti. Ushabti measures 125mm tall (145mm on stand) x 46mm wide x 33mm deep,
