Ancient Holylands (Palestine). Iron Age c.600-500 B.C. A pleasant Iron age Palestinian "Tri-spout" terracotta oil lamp from a West Country collection. A pleasant and simplistic little buff terracotta oil lamp, wheel turned with a small round pedestal base and the sides of the vessel pinched together prior to firing, to form three separate spouts. The lamp would have been filled with oil and a wick placed into each spout and was most likely a small domestic lamp or intended for placement in a small household shrine. Feint old repair to one side (barely visible and does not detract in any way) otherwise totally intact and in very good condition with sound surfaces. 58mm diameter x 32mm high.
