SOLD
Victorian c.19th Century. An unusual curio from an old collection, a preserved and mounted South American Piranha fish, one of the Worlds most dangerous carnivorous fish; Piranhas hunt in large shoals and can reduce a large prey to skeletal remains within minutes utilising their small razor sharp teeth. A well detailed example and mounted upon a contemporary split bamboo style stand. Some very minor damage to tips of fins in parts (not detracting however) but overall a decent example of Victorian taxidermy and certainly an interesting conversation piece, fish 108mm long x 58mm high, 127mm tall on stand
